How long have you been in business for?
10 years ago we opened The Little Gourmet Food Company in Keppel Street. This is where we make all of our products for our wholesale and retail customers. We had been supplying a lot of cafes and restaurants for many years and we wanted a retail outlet. That’s why we opened Café by The Little Gourmet Food Company. Next month it will be 12 months since we opened the Cafe.
What do you specialise in?
We provide good food using quality produce. We also have a wide range of take-home meals and gluten free options. We have our own gluten free kitchen down in Keppel Street. We sell slabs of slice and cakes, and can bake cakes for different occasions. Everything is made by us, we don’t buy anything in. We cook with all natural ingredients, no preservatives, colours or flavours.
What do you love about the space?
I liked this space because it was unique and different. This is a 100 year old building and is heritage listed. It has got a large amount of grass so kids can come and run around while their mum has coffee. You can also bring your dog. People can walk down and have a coffee and breakfast on a Saturday morning. And cyclists, it’s the perfect spot for them to stop off during their ride. We’re quite small inside however we have a large seating space outside.
What do you like most about the Goulburn Valley?
I’m originally from Shepparton and my other half Adrian is from Inglewood. I’ve grown up here; the area has been good to us. Adrian is the artistic designer and director. He has the creative eye and has built a lot of things to fit out the store.
Any future plans for your business?
We’re hoping to do some renovations to the building in summer. We would like to add a picnic area and some more seating.
Café by The Little Gourmet Food Company is located at 2/47 Wyndham St, Shepparton.
