In tune with the community for 15 years

September 20, 2017

For fifteen years, Bruce and Michelle Curnow have brought music to the people of the Goulburn Valley.

Originally from Mildura, Bruce lived in Melbourne for 12 years before moving to Shepparton to work for WIN. After working in production and on news camera, Bruce made the move to be his own boss.

“I wanted to work for myself, and make my own rules,” Bruce said.

Having been a muso for most of his life, Bruce and his wife purchased The Little Music Shop in Shepparton.

Fifteen years later, Bruce’s passion for music has grown and he continues to do what he loves.

“I have a passion for it and enjoy what I do. It’s hard to make a living these days.”

“The business has kept us here. I like the weather here and the rural lifestyle. We made our life here.”

The store may be small in size; however Bruce and Michelle have managed to fill every little corner with guitars, pianos, drums, cases, microphones and even the odd ukulele.

Bruce says acoustic guitars are the most popular item in the store.

“We sell a great range of guitars, with more than 200 in store, and we have really good acoustic brands.

“We might not be as big as some other stores but we match their prices.”

The Little Music Shop also offers piano, drum and guitar lessons for people wanting to practice their skills or take up a new hobby.

When asked if he had any future plans for the business, Bruce said he hoped to keep doing what he’s doing.

“I never thought I’d make fifteen years here, so I have no plans to chuck it in anytime soon.”

The Little Music Shop is located at 83 Wyndham St, Shepparton and is open from 10am to 5.30pm Monday to Friday, and 10am to 1pm Saturday.
