Carolyn Young, owner at Pinch of Salt

As you walk into Pinch of Salt on Fryers Street, you instantly feel at home, with the lovely scent of candles and sight of home decors.

Carolyn Young began working at the store 28 years ago as an assistant. After six years she began running the store and after another three, she bought it.

‘I’ve always loved my job’ said Carolyn.

Carolyn moved to Shepparton from the Mornington Peninsula, when her parents bought a farm.

When she began working at Pinch of Salt and loved the fact they stocked something a little different from the country décor and homewares of other local stores.

‘I don’t want what’s everywhere else.’

To this day, Carolyn continues to offer her customers a range of homewares, kitchen accessories, children’s toys and more.

The store is full of beautifully styled shelves sporting  brands such as Crabtree & Evelyn and Glasshouse fragrances.

‘I don’t like the store looking empty, and I like things that are a little different.’

Carolyn prides herself on great customer service and it was apparent in the way every customer was greeted and tended to when we visited her store.

Pinch of Salt offer free gift wrapping and will assist people to their cars if needed.

There are a number of exciting changes taking place in the store in the near future. In late October, there will be an update to the Crabtree range and the whole kid’s room will be updated.

Pinch of Salt is open Monday to Thursday, 9am- 5:30pm, Friday 9am-6pm and Saturday, 9am-3pm.

The store is located at 113 Fryers Street.
