After working in local restaurants for years, Bec and Cam Dennis decided it was time to find a new space and make it their own.
After a lengthy search, the couple was lucky enough to find Friar’s Café up for sale and —with the helping hand of Cam’s mum Diane— became restaurateurs.
31-year-old Cam Dennis and 26-year-old Bec Dennis have been working hard over the last two years to harness their skills and create a warm and inviting environment that keeps people coming back.
“We all have a passion for hospitality.” Said Bec.
Originally the town’s Baptist Church, the Friar’s Café building is over 100 years old. The beautiful wooden features, decorated ceiling and leadlight windows are all original.
The café also has upstairs dining, which seats about 14 people in a beautiful room filled with natural light.
Friar’s café can be booked for functions and meetings. They can even cook you a roast for Christmas Day!
Bec, Cam and Dianne are working to build up the reputation of the café, as well as their successful catering services.
“We cater or set up a kitchen anywhere someone sets up a marquee! Said Bec.
“We’re still young and it’s a lot of hard work, but we’ll keep doing it for as long as we can!”
Visit the Dennis family Monday to Sunday, from 7am-3pm at 127 Fryers Street, Shepparton.
