In the heart of Emerald Bank is a quaint cafe with an unique charm. Nicole Male (pictured) established the Provender & Co 2 1⁄2 years ago, at the site of a former bakery.
With new owners at Emerald Bank and exciting events in the works, Nicole knew the area would continue to grow.
‘‘I had worked in the industry a long time and I knew I could do it,’’ Nicole said.
‘‘The residential area is booming and I wanted to get in before the wave.’’
With the area proving a popular choice for families on weekends, Nicole said there have been a few standout items that have become most popular.
‘‘Our scones and our homemade ice cream are huge sellers,’’ she said.
With flavours ranging from honeycomb to rum and raisin, Nicole said the ice cream had been a huge drawcard, especially in the warmer months.
‘‘We go through a lot of ice cream, especially on market days when we use our outdoor cart,’’ she said.
The Provender & Co also cater for large functions and work gatherings on site.
The building allows the business to house smaller parties, while the Shepparton Motor Museum next door can host larger groups.
Nicole and her team hope to maintain their standards and continue with what they have been doing into the future.
‘‘We may change a few things; however things are working just the way they are,’’ she said.
Visit Nicole and her team from 9 am to 4 pm Thursday to Sunday. Provender & Co is at 7723 Goulburn Valley Hwy, Shepparton.
