The convoy of 40 trucks lined up in memory of David 'Pearcey' Pearce.

A convoy of 40 trucks visited Shepparton on Saturday to farewell truck driver David ‘‘Pearcey’’ Pearce.

Described as a true gentleman, David passed away in his sleep at his Archer St home on December 20, aged 63.

David started his career in the trucking industry when he was just 12, working for Phillips Transport.

David’s son-in-law Sebastian Spadaro organised the convoy and was delighted to see the turnout, which was a record number for Shepparton.

‘‘The vibe was absolutely electrifying. It was great to bring so many people together and celebrate someone that was so inspiring,’’ Sebastian said.

‘‘He was a father figure to many starting out in the industry. He took a lot of pride in his work but also had good family life balance.

‘‘He is best described as an old trucking legend.’’

The drive began at Shepparton Showgrounds and travelled along the outskirts of town before finishing at Shepparton public cemetery.
